The Music Business & Legal Affairs Group is an international group with members in Netflix offices around the globe and is responsible for all of Netflix's global music business affairs, legal affairs and strategy, from the production and licensing of original content through to the distribution of the Netflix service globally. This role will be a part of the Music Business & Legal Affairs Group and will be based in our Seoul office. The role will directly report to the Manager/Head of Music Business Affairs, Korea while also reporting on a dotted line basis to the Director, Business & Legal Affairs, Content Acquisition - Korea.

This unique and exciting role will focus on providing music business, legal and strategy support for the production and licensing of Netflix Originals. The role will have broad responsibility and unique insight into multiple aspects of our business and the opportunity to work with a wide number of internal and external partners.

Responsibilities:
• Oversee all music business & legal affairs - all music clearance and music licensing matters during production.
• Support our production partners in their negotiation of music deals (eg, composer, artist and songwriter deals, music director and music producer deals, music clearances and music licensing deals, worldwide public domain assessments, record company and music publishing waivers).
• Hand certain music deals in-house (eg, negotiating commercial terms and structuring, negotiating and drafting agreements with composers, songwriters, artists, performers, producers, record companies and music publishers, and clearing music and negotiating music license contracts).
• Provide music business & legal support and guidance to internal teams, including negotiating and drafting music terms in production services agreements, content licenses and other rights acquisition deals.
• Provide guidance around the creation and delivery of cue sheets, song credits.
• Provide music business & legal guidance to other teams such as the Content Business Affairs/Legal Affairs team, Production teams and Creative teams.
• Lead and present music presentations and educational music sessions to internal teams and external production partners.
• Support ancillary exploitations of music rights such as soundtrack albums.
• Handle any music situation or issue that may be encountered on a production and calmly navigate those situations to arrive at the best solution for the production and for Netflix.
• Have a deep understanding of the music industry and the dynamics among recording artists, songwriters, record companies, music publishers, music producers, music directors and CMOs such as KOMCA.
• Evaluate risk with imperfect information and have the confidence to make quick decisions.

Qualifications:
• Minimum of 5+ years of music production experience for anime, series, film or documentaries, including direct, hands-on experience in structuring, negotiating and drafting composer, performer and featured artist agreements, master use and synchronization license agreements, music director and music producer agreements, songwriter agreements, record company and music publishing waivers and soundtrack album agreements.
• A law degree and experience as a practicing attorney and registration in good standing as a lawyer in at least one jurisdiction is highly preferred
• In-depth knowledge of music copyright and the series/film production process - from development, budgeting, pre-production, production and post production to music clearance/licensing to composer engagement/recording through to delivery, cue sheets, marketing and launch.
• Practical knowledge of the music and entertainment industries in Korea, including the role of CMOs such as KOMCA, and active relationships with music agents, lawyers, managers, music publishers and record companies.
• Experience providing in-house support in an anime, television, documentary or film production company and/or network is highly preferred.
• Exceptional drafting and project management skills
