Job Description

As we continue to grow its slate of original programming around the world, it's an exciting time to join our team.

We are seeking an experienced film and TV lawyer to join our Business & Legal team, focusing on the acquisition, development, and production of Netflix's original series and films in the Nordics. Examples of this team's work include hit series like Quicksand, The Rain, and Home for Christmas, among others.

As a successful candidate, you will structure, negotiate, and draft legal and commercial agreements, such as production agreements and talent agreements with writers, directors, actors, etc. You may handle related intellectual property matters as they arise, production-legal and clearance issues (e.g. copyright), and will likely need to delve into local law and practice in various countries, including liaise with unions in countries where these represent talent.

The business and legal affairs team at Netflix is focused on collaborating with our business partners to find effective, efficient solutions and deliver great content to our subscribers. We seek out colleagues who are extremely comfortable making decisions that have both legal and business impact, and who will become trusted partners for both our internal production teams and external production partners.

This is an opportunity to be part of an established company growing its presence in EMEA generally and the Nordics specifically. The ideal candidate will be intellectually curious and will welcome the opportunity to be part of a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and diverse organization. The successful candidate will also be excited and inspired by the Netflix culture.

This position will be based in Stockholm, with regular travel within EMEA (most often in the Nordics) and occasionally to the US, as needed and when it is safe to travel again.

REQUIREMENTS

The successful candidate will have extensive and broad content production and licensing experience, including direct experience structuring, negotiating and drafting agreements for commissioning and development of film and television content, including talent, vendor and other contributor agreements; thorough knowledge and practical experience of guild/union clearance; and knowledge of the European film and TV distribution / production landscape. Experience providing in-house support in a tv- film- production company, television network and/or entertainment company is strongly preferred. Fluency in English and a Scandinavian language is required.

The successful candidate will also possess the following:
• Clear, concise communication skills.
• Strong analytical capabilities and superior judgment, even when the rules are unclear and the issues are of first impression.
• Ability to work proactively, independently and reliably under tight timeframes in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to counsel internal business clients on business and legal impact in various areas.
• Ability to pivot quickly and fluidly, think practically and be solution-oriented.
• Curiosity and willingness to tackle matters outside area of expertise.
