Responsibilities

WTVJ/NBC 6 is looking for a strong journalist for this multiplatform role that combines the ability to research, write, produce, shoot and edit. The Visual Storytelling Content Producer will be responsible for pitching, researching and producing television and digital content on daily and longer term enterprise stories to provide context, depth and understanding for viewers on the big stories impacting South Florida. This is not a line producer role but will need to fill in writing for newscasts and digital as well as work with and be willing to train as a line producer.
• Identifies and pitches explainers for big daily news stories as well as longer-term enterprise stories that are highly promotable
• Works closely with producers, associate and content producers, reporters and anchors in production of stories
• Cultivates and works with outside organizations and sources to develop story ideas
• Communicates story pitches and developments with news managers
• Seeks guidance from NBC News legal/standards team in producing and vetting stories, when appropriate
• Collaborates with show producers to ensure content is presented dynamically and accurately
• Writes online versions of in-depth stories and identifies additional digital content
• Utilizes social media to increase audience engagement
• Assists the investigative and special projects teams in producing content

Qualifications
• Minimum 3 years of experience in newsgathering and/or news production.
• B.A. degree or equivalent in areas such as Journalism & Communications, or related field.
• Must submit a resume/CV online as well as a link to recent work.
• Position must be willing to work a flexible schedule which could include overtime, nights, holidays and weekends.
• Must be willing to work at the station in Miramar.
• Must be willing to submit to a background investigation.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
• Must be covered by Solutions, NBCU's Alternative Dispute Resolution Program
• Must submit an attestation disclosing your COVID-19 vaccination status and, if partially or fully vaccinated, submitting your vaccination record no later than 7 days following commencement of employment.
• Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at the commencement of employment or must undergo regular COVID-19 testing if Company determines your job position requires accessing an NBCUniversal worksite.

• Strong journalistic and communication skills
• Ability to produce network quality segments under tight deadlines.
• Working knowledge of public records laws.
• Analyze data and turn it into visual stories.
• Must possess strong detail-oriented research and writing skills.
• Must have a creative approach to digital platforms.
• Strength in using social media to engage audience.
• Able to work extended and flexible hours during hurricanes, emergency situations and breaking news.
