Responsibilities
The Group Controller will serve as an integral business partner in the operational accounting aspects for Global Distribution, Operations & Technology, and Content Distribution. The Group Controller reports to the Executive Vice President, Global Controller and has dotted lines to the business CFOs as a key advisor to finance leadership on all accounting matters. This role partners with business unit Controller counterparts on all operational accounting processes, monthly and quarterly close coordination, reporting and the assessment and validation of internal control activities. This individual will also act as a conduit for corporate accounting initiatives and aid in the development of global processes and standardization of policies. The role is also an additional key point of contact between the business units and corporate controllership.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Participate in monthly/quarterly closing processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness with an emphasis on the balance sheet and related analyses.
• Assess control environment through review of control activities; identify and concentrate on improvement opportunities in key, high risk areas.
• Act as dedicated accounting resource and advisor to business unit CFO and Controller.
• Collaborate on corporate global initiatives and process change across the portfolio.
• Work with fellow Group Controllers and business unit Controllers to determine and implement best practices across the organization.
• Support business unit accounting teams with internal and external auditor engagements and assist with addressing audit findings.
• Other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
• A minimum of 20 years of accounting/controller senior management experience OR equivalent experience with a track record of managing high-performing teams.
• Direct experience working in a complex, large scale accounting and finance environment.
• Demonstrated background and knowledge of US GAAP and SOX controls.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• CPA required.
• Willingness to travel for work.

Desired Characteristics
• Strong communicator able to build consensus and drive results through collaboration, influence, and persuasion.
• Proven business partner with the ability to lead change and counsel effectively across business divisions.
• Big 4 Accounting firm experience a plus.
• Relevant media or cable industry preferred.
