Job Description

Responsibilities

The Senior Accountant will be part of the Universal Studio Group's (USG) accounting team responsible for the operational accounting of the business. This role helps the team perform accounting functions such as monthly close, journal entries, account reconciliations and analysis. In addition, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for performing intercompany content transactions between networks owned by NBCUniversal (NBC, E!, USA, etc.) and USG. They will also be responsible for assisting with monthly close tasks, hoc reporting, and finance projects as needed. The Senior Accountant will report to the Accounting Director.

Responsibilities:

Intracompany
• Record monthly intercompany license fee billings and revenue between intercompany networks and USG via the revenue system and journal entries
• Prepare and post intercompany residuals and breakage billings
• Ensure detailed tracking and timely billing of internally produced specials
• Perform detailed reconciliation of intercompany original content balances to substantiate studio intercompany revenue
• Assist corporate with properly performing elimination process by answering questions and researching variances
• Monitor and ensure completion of product line balancing monthly

Cash Management
• Perform cash application daily and maintain an accurate and current cash log
• Researching incoming cash and statements as needed to determine application process
• Ensure cash is reconciled regularly and meet with cash planning team, as needed

General Accounting & Reporting
• Prepare other recurring and ad hoc journal entries
• Perform research on transactions or inquiries, as needed
• Prepare all required account reconciliations with detailed support; follow through with any necessary required adjustment journal entries
• Prepare required quarterly deliverables (data requests, tie outs, analysis, etc.) to corporate and assist with preparation of financial reporting packages
• Support external and internal audit requests
• Understand other areas such as Participations and Residuals in order to backfill tasks, as needed
• Identify and participate in process improvement initiatives and opportunities to build efficiencies into existing processes and reporting routines; this includes documenting processes
• Perform ad hoc reporting (including report design) and special projects, as requested

Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related area
• Minimum of 2 years accounting experience
• Computer and Microsoft Excel (Pivot Table and VLOOKUP), Word skills are essential.
Visio and PowerPoint skills preferred.
