Job Description
Senior Accountant, Media Group
The Senior Accountant will play a key role in the general accounting and compliance of NBCUniversal's Media Group. This role provides an outstanding opportunity to learn about the NBC and Bravo linear networks, syndication studio, and direct to consumer businesses, as well as Media HQ. The position will report to the Senior Manager, Accounting, and will work closely with the Media Group finance team and collaborate with Controllership across the NBCUniversal portfolio.
This position will support the monthly close and the overall accounting processes to ensure accurate and timely reporting. The role will support the (i) standardization of existing processes with the rest of NBCU's TV & Streaming group, (ii) identification of business process efficiencies, and (iii) implementation of best practices. This position is expected to challenge the status quo and think of more enhanced approaches and methodologies to support Media's overall close and control structure.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and record accurate and timely journal entries within SAP
• Assist with month-end and quarter-end accounting close to ensure deadlines are met and all items are recorded in accordance with GAAP
• Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations in account reconciliation tool
• Support the Media Group finance team in all planning processes, including Long Range Planning, Annual Budgets and Operator Reviews
• Support business process by partnering with other departments, including but not limited to FP&A, Accounts payable, treasury, tax, human resources, IT, and legal
• Support ad hoc data requests, deliverables and other controllership deadlines
• Continually improve business processes through automation, thoughtful analysis and researching or benchmarking best practices inside and outside of the company
• Prepare and assist with reporting Balance Sheet variance analysis and quarterly review
• Assist process owners in documentation of SOX controls
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• 2+ years of accounting experience; CPA or on track
• Public accounting experienced preferred
• Proven ability to work independently, execute well, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Detail oriented and a quick learner
• Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
• Ability to think critically and research ad hoc accounting issues
• Problem solving skills, ability to dig into problems and drive resolutions
• Solid analytical skills
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
This position has been designated as a hybrid, generally contributing from the New York, NY office a minimum of three days per week.
