This is a full-time staff position with benefits within our New York team, candidates must be available to work a hybrid schedule with 1-2 office days per week on average.
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for all financial reports for the New York, Los Angeles and Chicago offices. Working closely with the Financial Controller, we are looking for someone with at least 2 years' experience in a similar role.
What you'll do:
Management Accounts
• Primary responsibility is to prepare financial statements and supporting schedules according to month end close deadlines.
• Post revenue recognition for each project at month end.
• Reconcile and post staff and freelance payroll.
• Reconcile and post intercompany accounts.
• Prepare accruals and prepayments at each month end.
Tax and Audits
• Work with tax advisors to understand estimated payments and returns on a quarterly basis; calculate sales and use tax for each state
• Prepare reports and reconciliations as necessary for audit; ensure accurate reporting practices are in place
• Fully review all year-end requirements, reports and associated documentation ensuring all reporting is accurately completed within the deadlines provided
Balance Sheet
• Update balance sheet reconciliations at each month end, identify reconciling items, investigate where they have arisen and adjust as required.
• Ensure the Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets and general ledgers are maintained in the finance systems
General
• Assist in managing the development of other members of the finance team, ensuring effectiveness and productivity
• Ensure consistent use of company policies and procedures are adhered to and best practice is maintained and always followed.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in similar accounting role
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent attention to detail with a great organization and communication skills
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, etc.
New York Employees Pay Range: $60,000 - $90,000 per year.
The posted range describes the minimum to maximum range for this job description in the state of New York. The range is posted in accordance with the New York Pay Transparency Bill. The range for this same position may be lower or higher in markets outside of New York City. Pay is dependent on the applicant's relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
