Job Description
Responsibilities

The Senior Producer works directly with the executive producer, anchors, and staff to generate and oversee the production of hard news and enterprise segments for NBC Weekend Nightly News. This person will play a key role in every aspect of the program: from story ideation, to overseeing production of pieces, to producing live programming in the control room. As the Senior Producer, you must be capable of running a control room and should be able to fill-in for the EP on occasion.

Responsibilities:
• Oversee and manage production teams including producers, associate producers, researchers, and correspondents from story inception to air
• Execute the program from the control room by communicating with correspondents in the field, producers finishing pieces, and providing editorial support to the anchor and executive producer
• Develop and craft original news of day and feature stories for the broadcast and on digital
• Generate story ideas and evaluate pitches
• Serve as leader/mentor in the Nightly newsroom
• Supervise direct reports

Qualifications
• At least seven years of experience in editorial and show production at the network level, preferably on evening broadcasts
• Must have a Bachelor's degree
• Demonstrate strong knowledge and interest in news and current events
• Must exhibit impeccable storytelling and production skills
• Strong writing and research skills, and editorial judgment
• Control room experience
• Must have prior staff management experience
• Willing and able to work flexible hours, under tight deadline pressure, including breaking news. Must be able to work additional hours beyond scheduled shift with little or no notice, if needed
• Must be willing to work in New York, NY
