Job Description

The News Producer/Researcher is responsible for identifying newsworthy stories, conceptualize and produce rundowns, line produce live shows, and actively participate in editorial planning. Candidate must have a strong editorial background and the ability to lead a team. Candidate would need to multitask and work in a fast paced, dead-line driven environment with the willingness to work weekends, early morning shift and have flexible hours for last-minute scheduling changes.

This is a project/limited term position, unless otherwise amended or terminated as deliverables within this project are completed.

Job Responsibilities:
• Responsible for selecting, assigning, writing, and organizing news stories in rundown.
• Line produce live shows
• Strong editorial skills in politics and news
• Research for interviews and stories
• Booking guests
• Contribute to the editorial line of the day
• Work in collaboration with Assignment Editors, Reporters, and production crews
• Revise scripts for accuracy and grammar
• Generate relevant topics
• Assist in writing news scripts
• Able to request news graphics including editorial and creative process.
• Work closely with Producers and Executive Producers on story planning and coordination
• Work under the direct supervision of the Executive Producer and is responsible for completing any other tasks as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or equivalent work experience
• Minimum 2 years of experience working as a Producer in TV production and/or cable TV
• Must be fully fluent in English and Spanish (both written and verbal)
• Prior work experience directing and guiding talent in video productions

Desired Characteristics:
• Strong editorial knowledge
• Proven solid writing skills
• Fully bilingual, Spanish and English proficient.
• Proficient in I-News and any other system for live news production
• Accustomed to working in a team and collaborating with all levels within the organization
• Proven excellent interpersonal skills combined with a strong sense of how to visually tell a compelling story desired
• Outside of the box thinker

Additional Requirements:
• Must be willing to work in the greater Miami, Florida area
• Must be 18 years or older
• Must have a valid driver's license
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
• Must be covered by Solutions, NBCU's Alternative Dispute Resolution Program
