Job Description
OVERVIEW
The Producer works closely with the Supervising Producer and Operations team in CNBC Hong Kong bureau to contribute to stellar live TV programming for CNBC Asia Pacific. You will conceive, pitch and provide strategic inputs on guests to invite onto the shows. You will also discuss news stories and support decision-making on the program line-up. The successful candidate is an accomplished news producer with strong editorial and in-depth knowledge of business and financial markets.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Pursue first and exclusive interviews with news makers and market movers in the world of business and finance
• Responsible for building and maintaining relationships with new and established guests, PRs and key stakeholders
• Cover key events inside and outside Hong Kong as required, including field producing polished and professional outside broadcasts
• Contribute to and help develop coverage of special events and breaking news projects
• Help shape editorial content for markets in North Asia including Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, South Korea
• Work with reporters to develop editorial content for their coverage
• Script stories, packages for live and pre-recorded show content
• Collaborate with show teams to develop live segments, and secure compelling guests for the shows
• Collaborate with show teams, digital and social teams on joint production efforts
• Communicate with production teams, news editors and other managers, anchors, operations team and other key stakeholders
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Demonstrated experience in TV news production and securing high-profile guests for news programs, as well as monitoring, selecting and delivering breaking news
• Established strong contacts and excellent rapport with professional, financial, research and other sources
• Excellent news editorial judgement
• In-depth knowledge of business financial markets, geopolitical and economic news
• Ability to work efficiently with accuracy in a fast-paced newsroom and meet tight deadlines
• Develop a clear understanding of CNBC's editorial standards and programming priorities
• Effective communicator and collaborator, professionally interacting with colleagues at varying levels across the business, as well as sources
• Fluency in English, Mandarin and Cantonese
• Flexibility in working different shifts, including on weekends or public holidays, as required
DESIRED ATTRIBUTES:
• Relevant diploma or above
• Experience with outdoor broadcast
• A passion for broadcasting, media and content production
• Demonstrated leadership skills and people development/management experience
