Responsibilities
Role

Universal Pictures Creative Operations is a fast paced marketing post production facility, that directly services our in house Theatrical Marketing team, Home Entertainment, Focus Features, Dream Works and other multiple creative and marketing business units within Comcast and NBC. Candidate must have a minimum of 3-5 years Post Production experience, be detail oriented with great organizational and multi-tasking skills. Will be able to keep flexible hours and is a team player. This position will report up to a Post Production Supervisor and will be responsible for assisting all Trailer and TV spot deliverables as well as maintaining our vast dailies library and media on shared storage.

Essential Responsibilities:
include but are not limited to:
• Maintain backups of high-res scans, vfx, trailer deliverables and project files for theatrical finishing
• Maintain LTFS LTO backups of Avid projects and media
• Transcode high-res scans and vfx to a variety of formats
• Backup and manage dailies for HD TV finishing
• Encode and exchange files with outside vendors via file sharing services such as Aspera, Dropbox, Wiredrive, 5th Kind Core, Frame.io, etc
• Maintain sufficient space on NAS and SAN storage volumes

Qualifications/Requirements
Must have experience with:
• File formats such as MXF, EXR, DPX, TIFF, DNX, ProRes, Camera RAW
• Interchange formats: AAFs, EDLs, XMLs, etc
• General knowledge of color science
• General knowledge of shared storage
• Nexus/Facilis
• Quantum StorNext
• VFX & Finishing Applications: Autodesk Flame, Davinci Resolve, etc
• NLE Applications: Heavy Emphasis on Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut X, etc
• Dalet Amberfin
• Rhozet
• Adobe Media Encoder
• Comfortable on the command-line
• Comfortable working on Windows, Mac and Linux systems
• LTFS LTO: Managing and cataloging camera raw assets on LTO; automating pulls from NLE-generated pull lists such as EDLs or ALEs
• Familiarity with MAMs, Long-term Archive Solutions and LTO Tape Archive
• Diva Archive
• Black Pearl
• Spectra Tape Library
• LTFS

Desired Characteristics

Recommended knowledge of:
• Camera raw debayering
• ACES and similar imaging pipelines
• Understanding of EDL/AAF conform; programmatically generating/repairing EDLs and AAFs to work within our ecosystem
• Managing dailies and their various formats via metadata

Bonus Experience with:
• PYTHON, C++, REST, SOAP scripting
• LTFS LTO: automating pulls from NLE-generated pull lists such as EDLs or ALEs
• Building custom scripts/programs/automation to solve various post production needs and manage assets
• Leveraging APIs to develop custom pipelines and software plugins using C++, Python, REST, SOAP, etc.
