Operations Manager - OTT Channel Operations

Responsibilities
NBCU Local is launching OTT local news channels across its local markets. We are looking for a resourceful, organized, and passionate Operations Manager with a start-up mentality. The ideal candidate loves local news production, is a problem solver, is a proven project/product manager, and wants to innovate outside of the traditional live control room by helping to support a virtual news team and cloud based distribution partners.

Reporting to the Director of OTT News Programming, the Operations Manager will be responsible for managing production activities, managing the operational relationship with our 3rd party platforms and service providers, as well as serving as their escalation resource. They'll ensure appropriate managerial relationships are established and maintained to build and strengthen trust with our local stations. Lastly, they'll act as lead product manager for Local OTT Channels to roadmap, build and maintain innovative solutions in a fast-changing environment.
Job Duties
• Collaborate with technical leaders and cross-functional product owners on the creation and prioritization of a technical product roadmap for future developments
• Implement media management best practices to continually improve and refine the channel operations
• Act as an escalation point and incident manager for the Local OTT product, including improving processes to ensure consistency, repeatable excellence, and streamlined edge case handling
• Assist with virtual control room activities during live production
• Serve as a liaison between station group and third-party vendors
• Coordinate with stations for live feeds/material to produce content for the OTT channels
• Interface with Miramar (Miami) production and technical operations as necessary to operate OTT Channels
• Help streamline/troubleshoot channel production activities and workflows
• Ensure proper error/incident reporting

Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent working experience
• Minimum 5 years of experience working in broadcast, live streaming or cable operations
• Minimum 3 years of production/operations management experience

Eligibility Requirements
• Willingness to work outside standard hours, and on weekends with short notice
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
• Must be 18 years or older
• Must be covered by Solutions, NBCU's Alternative Dispute Resolution Program

• Experience managing projects for media with ability to manage multiple teams and vendors at once
• Ability to manage competing priorities and operate under pressure
• Ability to guide and assist in technical troubleshooting during an incident/outage
• Excellent management, interpersonal, communication, presentation, and organizational skills
• Ability to react quickly and accurately in breaking news situations
• Detail oriented with the ability to meet deadlines
• In-depth understanding of best production practices and solid broadcast creation experience
• Eager to think creatively, try new things & break away from the traditional way things have been done
• Excellent communication skills with remote teams
• Experience with newsroom technologies such as PCRs, NRCS and production equipment
