NBC Local is looking for an experienced editor to be a key member of our national editorial team while serving as the liaison between our editorial and tech and product teams.

We are looking for a candidate who is part journalist, part technologist and part coach. The candidate must understand how our editorial teams manage a story, the development process for our most recent products and how to build and maintain relationships across multiple departments and levels of the group.

This editor will work with the operations manager to be the primary voice for the editorial team in the development of our digital products, including our web site and apps. That means this editor will be in a unique position to influence the way our audience consumes our content. The editor must also be an expert on our editorial systems and workflow and will serve as a coach for digital editors on the national team and the local digital teams at NBC's owned stations, Telemundo, and regional sports networks.

The right candidate should love local news and sports and have excellent people skills and team orientation.

Responsibilities:
• Represent the editorial team's voice in product development, ensuring that our products make sense to both the journalists that will use them and our audience.
• Be the product expert for all editorial tools, including our content management system. Evaluate new tools as necessary to determine if they'd be helpful to our editors.
• Work with the digital teams at NBC's 12 owned stations, 24 Telemundo stations and five RSNs to ensure they are using our tools effectively. Provide training to digital editors when necessary, look for ways to improve workflow, and help them use our infrastructure to tell stories in creative, innovative ways.
• Develop relationships with key stakeholders across the product and tech groups, establishing trust and building a two-way street for constant communication.
• Delegate tasks to other members of the national digital team and select local stakeholders, but manage the progress of all projects, even ones being actively overseen by someone else.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred

• Self-starter with proven ability to understand and improve on editorial workflows
• Proven solid writing skills and editorial judgment
• Must be available to work (whenever necessary) early mornings, evenings, holidays, weekends and major breaking news events

Basic Qualifications:
• Must be 18 years or older
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
