Responsibilities
NBC4 Los Angeles is looking for a dynamic, passionate and experienced journalist to join our award winning team as anchor/reporter for our morning newscast, Today in LA. We pride ourselves as an organization dedicated to powerful storytelling, dominating breaking news coverage and community connections. The applicant should have a good understanding of how to deliver meaningful and impactful stories for all our digital and broadcast platforms. The applicant must also be able to develop sources and produce enterprise stories. Spanish language skills are a plus. Knowledge of Southern California is important. This is not an entry level position.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Perform on-air anchor responsibilities for NBC4's Today in LA morning newscast and other programs on multiple platforms
• Prepare and present news content in a fair, accurate and unbiased manner
• Collaborate with Producers and Executive Producer to generate franchise and segment content including researching and setting up interviews
• Develop and maintain a network of news sources providing access to exclusive local stories
• Leverage relationships within the community for the purpose of developing connections that lead to enterprise storytelling
• Participate in station-sponsored and philanthropic events and assigned promotions projects
• Active engagement on social media is required
• Perform field reporting, fill-in for other shows and other temporary assignments

Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum 5 years of experience as Anchor in top 20 market
• Minimum 5 years of experience as Reporter in top 30 market
• Bachelor's Degree in Journalism or related field, or equivalent work experience
• Proven track record of strong writing, storytelling and live reporting skills on both broadcast and digital

Eligibility Requirements:
• Must be willing to work in Universal City, CA
• Must have a flexible schedule with the ability to work any shift including weekends and holidays
• Must be willing to travel and work extended hours
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States

Desired Characteristics
• Solid news judgment, strong writing and research skills
• Experience in a variety of Anchor/Host scenarios, including in studio, live in the field, and
pre-recorded news specials
• Experience in a variety of on-air reporting functions including investigations and franchises
• Previous experience anchoring or reporting on a morning newscast
• Very strong speaking skills with the ability to ad-lib effortlessly in various types of situations particularly breaking news
• Demonstrated ability to solve problems, prioritize decisions, and successfully manage multiple assignments concurrently in a high pressure, breaking news environment
• Experience in the Los Angeles market and familiarity with the Southern California audience and communities
• Effective self-starter with the proven ability to generate and produce news stories
• Proficiency delivering enterprise stories
• Experience being actively engaged in editorial processes and meetings
• Good collaborative and interpersonal skills to communicate at all levels
• Believes that teams are smarter and more dynamic together
