For almost a century, Universal has been known for its diverse slate of films, including classics such as Jaws, the Jurassic Park series, Mamma Mia, Fast ad Furious and Bourne. Universal Pictures International (UPI) owns and operates direct theatrical marketing and distribution of feature films in many locations around the globe including Austria, Australia, New Zealand France, Germany, Italy, Korea, Mexico, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland and the UK and Eire. In other territories UPI market and distribute movies through its JV offices, as well as in select territories, licensees who are contracted to distribute on UPl's behalf as well as production operations, a leading television stations group, and world-renowned theme parks.
Job Description
Through the leadership and development of a team of seven onshore and 6 offshore, manage all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures across the Australian Group and New Zealand whilst maintaining up to date with all International Financial Reporting Standards..
Key Responsibilities include:
• Managing reporting requirements for management accounts, cash flow, balance sheet reporting for the following entities; UPI Australia, UPI New Zealand, UPA Australia UTV
• Managing reporting requirements for management accounts, and or payroll tax, fringe benefit taxes for the following entities; Consumer Products Group, Dreamworks Animation, HayU, Golf Now, Comcast Australia, New Media Digital and all production entities managed externally
• Ensuring both internal and external reporting requirements are met in a timely manner
• Responsible for all tax compliance and reporting within Australia and New Zealand to include, the Australian MEC group and Annual Payroll Tax Group Filing
• Responsible for group Transfer Pricing compliance and reporting
• Managing reporting obligations related to all other taxes to include fringe benefits tax, payroll tax and workers compensation insurance across Australian group of entities
• Manage the monthly financial reporting to external parties such as EOne, Lambwoo, USPHE
• Oversee the end to end accounting for Warner Brothers
• Budgeting and forecasting for Warner Brothers in FLASH
• Ensuring internal financial controls are in place and continual development and improvement of same
• Preparing annual statutory accounts, in compliance with local policies along with external auditors
• Manage all film accounting reporting across Australia and New Zealand, to include key partners such as BBC all other Local Acquisitions contracts
• Manage monthly reporting to head office for UPI and UPHE and key contact for all data requests from head office controllership and FP&A
• Responsible for the roll out of any finance systems, such as Concur and Analysis for Office
• Manage and review the T&E for all employees within the entities managed, that all NBCU policies are followed
• Managing annual audits and managing licensor audits
• Ensuring ledgers are maintained to the required standards with adequate supporting documentation and reconciliation, and in compliance with corporate policy
• Managing internal reporting e.g. reporting monthly, quarterly and year-to-date actuals, including cash flow and passing relevant information to the Financial Planning & Analysis team to support forecasting
• Ensuring legal and fiscal compliance
• Managing the P2P, O2C and R2R teams offshore
• Key point of contact for all SAP and financial interface related issues
• Developing and maintaining strong relationships with other functional departments (e.g., marketing, operations, etc), peers in Head Office and staff
• Ensuring the on-going development of team and self
Qualifications
• CA/CPA qualified with a relevant undergraduate degree
• Minimum 7 years commercial experience, ideally within a large group/business
• Strong financial reporting (balance sheet, profit and loss) experience and proficiency
• Demonstrated experience with supporting the business with appropriate accounting and financial information
Technical
• Demonstrated good understanding of Statutory/US GAAP reporting requirements/standard
• Demonstrated working knowledge of Australian/NZ income tax, GST and FBT
• Proven ability to manage month-end processes from start to finish
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Demonstrated experience in leading and developing a small team

• Highly organised, structured, methodical and accurate
• Strong attention to detail
• Proven advanced MSExcel skills
• Working knowledge of SAP (desirable)
