Universal Pictures International ('UPI') owns and operates direct theatrical marketing and distribution of feature films in many locations around the globe including Austria, Australia, China, France, Germany, Italy, Korea, India, Mexico, Netherlands, Russia, Spain, Switzerland and UK & Eire. In other territories UPI markets and distributes movies through its joint venture offices, as well as in select territories through licensees who are contracted to distribute on UPI's behalf. UPI is a division of Comcast NBCUniversal.
Job Description
This role will be instrumental in leading the theatrical sales and distribution strategy within the region. The Theatrical Distribution Director will be responsible for shaping and executing the overall distribution sales strategy across South Asia. This role is also responsible for driving and leading specific local market strategies for South Asia's distribution projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Drive commercial excellence, efficiencies, and innovation as a region and with local markets through the development and implementation of strategic theatrical distribution initiatives and plans in line with the organization's goals and objectives.
• Work with VP South Asia and Home Office Strategy, Finance, Distribution and other related teams in driving ideas, project management and execution of South Asia's distribution projects and initiatives.
• Work closely with VP South Asia, the regional marketing team and markets to ensure cohesive planning and execution of budget and plans.
• Work with local Sales and Distribution teams to understand specific local market strategies, concerns and nuances while also articulating a broader regional perspective.
• Facilitate bringing together markets from across the region, overseeing the implementation of key Home Office priorities, driving the adoption of best practices and idea-sharing, ensuring that local markets have the support and resources they need from the local, regional, or global level to achieve excellence in distribution and operations.
• Lead regional distribution team in both the strategic and day-to-day functions and operations.
• Guide and ensure that all required deliverables in the region and markets well managed and communicated.
• Lead budget development, management, and analysis as a region and with markets.
• Represent UPI South Asia and markets internally and externally in terms of and in issues of sales and distribution.
• Be a solid extension of Home Office
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
• Minimum 5 years previous commercial experience at a management/leadership level.
• Experience dealing with the international marketplace, multiple international offices, languages, and cultures required.

• Proficient in commercial understanding, P&L and statistical analysis, have excellent analytical skills and ability to provide effective solutions.
• Familiar with financial planning and strategy and holds ability to develop and analyse budgets.
• Deep understanding of the entertainment or content landscape
• Ability to prioritise, organize and schedule work effectively.
• Solid presentation skills.
• Solid command of basic tools and skills such as Excel and Powerpoint, PowerBI etc.
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
• Forward-thinker with knowledge of and interest in diverse cultures and languages.
• Able to travel for work when required.
• Proficiency in multiple Asian languages is preferred to help better understand and contextualize local content, nuances and occasionally partners in South Asia.
