With unequalled scale, our teams make the most out of every opportunity to collaborate and learn from one another. We're always looking for ways to innovate faster, accelerate our growth and consistently offer the very best in consumer experience. But most of all, we're backed by a culture of respect. We embrace authenticity and inspire people to thrive.
As the Director of Machine Learning at NBCU, you will work with teams to implement the strategy of machine learning and AI capabilities that drive audience intelligence, content optimization, monetization, personalization, and operational efficiency across the enterprise. You'll oversee high-performing engineering teams while building and scaling the systems, tools, and platforms that support advanced analytics in a fast-paced, content-rich environment.

Key Responsibilities:
• Drive ML Platform Development: Partner with data engineering and platform teams to evolve the company's ML infrastructure, including MLOps pipelines, model monitoring, and scalable deployment systems.
• Implement ML Strategy: Work with multiple data science and analytics teams implementing machine learning models for personalization, content recommendation, audience segmentation, marketing attribution, revenue forecasting, and more.
• Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with content, marketing, product, advertising, and streaming operations to align ML initiatives with business objectives and media workflows.
• Build Reusable Systems: Promote reuse of models, features, and tooling by standardizing processes and integrating ML systems into enterprise data platforms and self-service tools.
• Innovate with Emerging Tech: Explore and integrate GenAI, LLMs, computer vision, and other frontier AI capabilities to create new media experiences, drive automation, and enhance creativity.
• Mentor and Scale Teams: Grow, lead, and inspire data science and ML engineering talent while fostering a culture of experimentation, rigor, and inclusion.
Qualifications
• Advanced degree in Data Science, Machine Learning, Computer Science, or a related field, supplemented by hands-on experience in ML system design and deployment.
• 7+ years of experience in data science and machine learning, with experience leading teams in a complex, data-rich organization-preferably in media, entertainment, or digital platforms.
• Proven track record deploying ML in high-scale environments: recommendation engines, audience models, marketing science, or content intelligence.
• Deep expertise in MLOps, cloud AI platforms (e.g., AWS SageMaker, GCP Vertex AI), and productionizing models in enterprise systems.
• Experience with distributed computing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Dask) and high-performance data storage solutions.
• Strong understanding of data engineering principles, including ETL pipelines, data lake architectures, and database technologies.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to translate complex models into actionable insights and aligned business value.
• Strong working knowledge of the modern data stack (e.g., feature stores, model registries, real-time data pipelines).
• Experience navigating large matrixed organizations with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.

Preferred Experience:
• Knowledge of ad tech, streaming analytics, content metadata enrichment, or real-time personalization systems.
• Familiarity with GenAI tools (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Hugging Face) and LLM deployment best practices.
• Experience contributing to data mesh or federated data platform strategies.
Additional Requirements:
Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
