Job Description
Universal Pictures is a leading global entertainment company, dedicated to delivering memorable and innovative theatrical experiences. Our Universal Theatrical Group is dedicated to bringing diverse and compelling stories to the stage, driving theatrical excellence and creativity.
We are seeking a motivated and Creative Executive to join our Universal Theatrical Group division. This role is designed for a junior-level executive with 2+ years of experience in the theater industry who is eager to grow and make a significant impact on our theatrical projects and support the head of the division. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of the theater industry, strong creative instincts, dramaturgical skills and the ability to support script and score development. This position will also involve working closely with various departments, including legal, business affairs, and finance, to ensure smooth project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
• Creative Support:
• Assist in providing narrative and dramaturgical feedback on scripts and scores in development.
• Collaborate with writers, composers, and directors to help refine and enhance creative content.
• Ensure that projects align with the vision and standards of Universal Theatrical Group.
• Talent Development:
• Help identify and assess emerging talent in the theater industry.
• Build and maintain relationships with new creatives, assisting in the evaluation of potential future collaborators.
• Project Coordination:
• Support head of the division in management of project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
• Assist in balancing creative aspirations with practical considerations to ensure timely and successful project delivery.
• Interfacing with Legal, Business Affairs, and Finance:
• Assist in collaborating with legal and business affairs teams for contract review and negotiations.
• Work with finance teams to help develop and manage project budgets.
• Address any contractual and financial issues, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
• Problem Solving:
• Assist in addressing and resolving issues that arise in high-pressure situations, focusing on maintaining creative integrity and project goals.
• Facilitate communication between creative teams and studio leadership to help resolve conflicts and ensure alignment.
• Strategic Collaboration:
• Work with studio executives, producers, and other stakeholders to support the development of new theatrical projects.
• Represent Universal Theatrical Group at industry events and networking functions as needed by head of department.
Qualifications
• Experience: 2+ years of experience in the theater industry, with some experience in a creative or development role preferred.
• Industry Knowledge: Basic understanding of the theater industry, including current trends and emerging talent. Studio experience is a plus.
• Creative Skills: Ability to provide constructive feedback on narrative and dramaturgical elements of scripts and scores.
• Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
• People Skills: Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to address and resolve issues in a creative and practical manner.
• Contract and Budget Knowledge: Basic understanding of theatrical contracts and budgeting processes is a plus.

Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week

Salary Range: $110,000-$120,000; bonus eligible, not long-term incentive eligible.
