Responsibilities

NBCUniversal Content Distribution negotiates and manages the company's distribution of all of its television programming, including NBC, Telemundo, Bravo, MSNBC, CNBC, USA, E!, Syfy, Golf, Oxygen, Universal Kids, Universo, and our regional sports networks to online, cable, satellite and virtual TV providers such as Comcast, Hulu, DIRECTV, Sling, YouTube TV and hundreds of others as well as NBCU's owned-and-operated digital platforms. In addition, we manage the distribution of NBCU's Peacock direct-to-consumer service via device platforms such as Roku, Amazon Fire, Apple, and Android and of free ad-supported streaming services such as NBC News Now. In addition to negotiating, drafting and managing these agreements, our legal department provides partner marketing support, including with respect to tentpole events such as the Olympic Games and the World Cup, and interacts across NBCUniversal business units (e.g., Ad Sales, Direct-To-Consumer, Sports, Affiliate Relations, Owned Television Stations) to ensure compliance with our agreements and alignment with companywide distribution objectives.

The Counsel – Content Distribution will support the Vice President – Content Distribution on these high-stakes, high-value transactions.

Responsibilities:
• Draft, review and negotiate complex distribution agreements with distribution partners for the television networks and Peacock app
• Provide business-facing, relevant and practical legal advice to content distribution business teams regarding analysis and planning of, and compliance with, current and future agreements
• Provide support to the partner marketing team
• Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the fast-changing television distribution landscape and the entertainment business
• Maintain an awareness and understanding of the latest developments in law and technology as they relate to the distribution of media content, including privacy, consumer functionality, security, and windowing of content

Salary Range: $140,000 - $170,000: bonus eligible

Qualifications

Qualifications/Requirements:
• Minimum 3 years of experience working on high-stakes contracts and their negotiation
• Law degree and member of a state bar in good standing
• Experience in contract negotiation, content licensing and distribution, intellectual property, digital media, marketing and/or litigation preferred
