Job Description
Responsibilities
WMAQ-TV, NBC Chicago has an opportunity to work in our newsroom producing engaging sports segments and stories for broadcast. Here you will:
• Work closely with the Platform Managers, Daypart Managers and Assignment Editors, as well as Reporters and Anchors to produce nightly sportscasts for WMAQ-TV newscasts
• Assist Platform Manager in producing of weekly ''Sports Sunday'' program and other periodic sports specials and fill in as Platform Manager during vacations or illness
• Writing, reviewing and approving talent scripts
• Log games and edit highlights and interviews for use online and on air
• Set up, record and monitor zoom interviews and press conferences at varying times of day
• Create and approve graphics for sports segments
• Participate in editorial planning sessions and provide creative story ideas
• Add content to our digital and social platforms in conjunction with our dedicated digital content team
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements
We are looking for an individual who will bring a strong sense of story and compelling visual style with a bachelor's degree (or higher). In addition:
• Minimum 2 years of experience with sports writing, producing, and desktop editing across multiple platforms and social media
• Must be willing and able to regularly work weekends, longer hours and varying shifts as assigned and when necessary to meet production and broadcast deadlines

• Must have willingness to work non-traditional hours/days, including weekends and holidays
• Ability to travel as required, including field producing as needed
• Previous experience working in a local TV sports department preferred
