Responsibilities
NBCUniversal China seeks a highly qualified candidate for the position of Business Development Director. This position will manage strategic planning and business development activities for UPI China. Specific projects will include research, analysis, modeling, and recommendations related to emerging industry trends, expansion opportunities, competitive threats, and internal business performance improvement. The position offers unique exposure to a wide variety of businesses within the media and entertainment industry.

The primary responsibilities of this position include the following:
• Work closely with senior management to execute current strategy and formulate new growth strategies for NBCU businesses in China, currently spanning (a) global film import and distribution, (b) Chinese language theatrical co-productions, (c) brand development and (d) television distribution.
• Prepare strategic market analyses to identify potential areas of future growth across TV, film and new media. Includes preparation of corporate profiles, strategic market analyses, updates on ongoing market activity and M&A activity
• Formulate market and business update presentations for corporate executive management on current Universal Pictures China initiatives
• Support theatrical co-production team to analyze pipeline projects and drive progress on ongoing projects, which will require cross-function coordination, both within the China office and with Los Angeles-based colleagues
• Identify and evaluate organic business development opportunities, including preparation of business plans and financial models
• Identify strategic partnership or alliance opportunities with major Chinese corporates
• Interface with leading local players & the government to facilitate business activity in the market as required

NBCUniversal is seeking exceptional candidates with at least 8-10 years of experience in strategic planning, management consulting, business development or investment banking, ideally in the entertainment industry. The role requires superior strategic, financial and relationship skills. The individual must possess the ability to interface effectively with multiple levels of management, ranging from senior corporate executives to business unit managers and third parties. The ideal candidate will also possess:
– MBA from a top-tier business school
– Proven project and managerial leadership skills
– Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to author and deliver presentations

– Experience working on M&A transactions

– Excellent quantitative and analytical skills, including significant financial modeling experience
– Ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines
– Demonstrated strong Interpersonal skills and able to work in matrix organizations
– A solid understanding of the film and/or media markets/ business models
– Business-level proficiency in Mandarin & English a must
– Able to work in China and live in Beijing
