The Assistant Manager of Entertainment Show Quality plays a key role in maintaining and/or creating the artistic vision of entertainment throughout the park. The Assistant Manager is responsible for providing regular notes and feedback for current Entertainment elements/performers and also for assisting with new Entertainment elements/characters as directed/assigned. This includes but is not limited to, selecting the cast, running rehearsals, collaborating with designers, blocking movement and monitoring the project throughout its operation. As the Assistant Manager, Entertainment Show Quality you are tasked with ensuring that all new and existing entertainment supports the USH brand. The Assistant Manager, Entertainment Show Quality will report to the Manager, Entertainment Show Quality.
1. Ensure that the Universal Studios Hollywood vision, mission & values, and Guest Service Philosophy & Standards are understood and supported across the organization.
2. Essential Accountabilities:
• Cultivate and lead a department culture that promotes a professional, collaborative, inspiring, fun and teamwork-driven work setting for all Team Members.
• Have knowledge of the general operation process across all entertainment products and communicate any concerns or feedback to the appropriate stakeholder(s), including Manager and/or Entertainment Operations team.
• Ensure the operational efficiency and effectiveness of administration, venue/show area and/or elements. Resolve any issues as they arise and seek opportunities to improve process and procedures collaborating with Entertainment Production and Operations as appropriate.
• Provide direction, development and support to dance captains, trainers, seasonal supervisors and employees. Communicate feedback and address all performance issues, providing recognition and/or coaching.
• Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health and Safety responsibilities by following established USH policy, procedures, training, and employee involvement activities
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with other park department leaders and stakeholders.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
3. Job Duties
• Communicate and maintain creative and performance standards through consistent observation of portfolios as assigned. This requires a regular in park presence to observe sets/shows.
• Maintaining the creative intent and performance standards through written and verbal performance feedback, including but not limited to performance notes and written evaluations.
• Have knowledge and maintain all show quality across all entertainment products and communicate any concerns or feedback to the appropriate stakeholder(s.)
• Hold performers accountable to the creative intent through delivering performance notes and have performance improvement conversations as needed.
• Partner with operation partners on any discipline conversations with team members if requested.
• Responsible for maintaining all Show Development & Quality resources for existing and new Entertainment elements including but not limited to creative resource materials, music/video libraries and character bios. Research current trends and new entertainment offerings in the industry.
• Work with operation partners to assess hiring needs throughout the year, to include conducting auditions and casting of roles.
• Work with operation partners to develop and implement training and rehearsal for all new hires under your portfolio.
• Develop, document and execute proficiency/brush up and training needs for all elements within assigned portfolio.
• Create and/or maintain existing rehearsal plans to ensure consistent training.
• Support Show Director, as assigned and appropriate, during creation and rehearsal processes for new elements. This includes but is not limited to documentation, rehearsal oversight and performer feedback.
• Support and assist (as assigned) in developing and implementing plans for enhancement of current elements and or launch of new elements.
• Act as Show Director as assigned.
• Prepare pitches and new entertainment concepts as assigned.
• Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.

Qualifications
• A BFA or 5+ years working in themed entertainment preferred.
• Minimum 3+ years in a live entertainment or theatrical environment.
• Previous experience in choreography and dance is highly preferred.
• Prior directorial, teaching or training experience preferred.
• Script Writing and storytelling experience preferred.
• Managerial or supervisory experience of departments and personnel.
• Must be available to work on weekends, holidays and nights as required.
• Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and walking/traveling to multiple venues throughout the day.
• Ability to read, interpret and follow documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and union contracts.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and training documentation. Power Point presentation experience a plus.
• Ability to effectively deliver performance notes and answer questions in one-on-one and group settings.
• Strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
• Strong time management skills.
• Ability to partner across business units.
• Demonstrates ability to work independently under pressure; proactive thinker/self-starter.
