Responsibilities

The Position

NBC Sports Bay Area/California is a regional sports network (RSN) based in San Francisco and provides Technical Support, Engineering, Media Operations, Productions, Studios and Facilities services for San Francisco Giants, Oakland A's, Golden State Warriors, Sacramento Kings, San Jose Sharks and San Jose Earthquakes broadcasts on two 24/7 channel locations. It is also the official regional partner of the San Francisco 49ers, providing 7 day per week coverage. The Technology and Operations teams have responsibility for partnering with our local owned stations, KNTV and Telemundo, and other Comcast/NBC owned divisions to build, deploy, support and operate the technical systems used throughout the facility. The combined Bay Area/California RSN's produce more than 600 live sporting events including studio and remote based pre/post-game shows per year across multiple platforms.

The VP, Technology & Operations is responsible for leading the technology and media operations teams; for developing a long-term strategic plan; implementation of technology solutions and providing client focused operational and technical support. This client facing position reports locally to the General Manager and is tasked with enabling the local content and production teams to create the best in class content.

The VP, Technology & Operations is responsible for the overall oversight of the local TechOps department and serves as the key engagement lead to other Enterprise groups to ensure successful delivery of these services to their internal client groups.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Provide the highest possible ''quality of service'' by providing technical and operations excellence for the local operations, enabling them to provide content and service to its viewers, clients and partners. Development, implementation and accountability to standards, controls and processes that ensure a high degree of availability and reliability across all technical systems and operations
• Lead the development and the efficient implementation of the business' long-term technology strategies including development and execution of organizational development; the annual capital plan and management of multiple complex large-scale projects.
• Lead, mentor and develop the performance of the technical and operations teams including technology and media operations
• Drive innovation and efficiency through the identification and implementation of internal operational synergies and overall leadership.
• Coordinate production, technology and facility needs across all departments and local businesses.
• Prepare and maintain department budgets, forecasts, plans and reports.
• Oversee the purchasing of equipment and the coordination of the stations' technological planning and development.
• Provide escalation support for deployed infrastructure as needed by liaising with vendors and other internal/external engineering SMEs for problem resolution. Manage the implementation, commissioning, documentation and operation of new technology.
• Lead the RSNs Environment Health & Safety efforts and related reporting systems. Ensure compliance with NBCUniversal EHS overall programs, goals and objectives.
• Ensure all facility systems (Electrical, HVAC, Generators, Fire/Life Safety) are inspected and maintained regularly and permitted as required by the building landlord and local authorities.

Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications
Minimum of 10 years of Technology and Production Operations experience within the sports, media, and entertainment industry.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience leading large teams within a matrixed organization; proven track record in the ability to recruit, develop, and retain top talent and instilling a culture of positive accountability.
• Strong leader and persuasive communicator with a vision; proven ability to self-motivate, work independently as well as collaboratively and motivate and inspire a team.
• Proven expertise with a broad range of production technologies and the ability to grow and adapt to new technologies as they develop.
• Demonstrated dedication to building and maintaining a high-performance technical environment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of technical operations support, project management, broadcast production, technology and finance.
• Proven track record supporting a high-end sports/media organization
• Strong leader and persuasive communicator with a vision; proven ability to self-motivate, work independently as well as collaboratively and motivate and inspire a team.

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
• Live sports event production experience preferred
• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline preferred.
