Responsibilities
As a researcher, you will work directly with Associate Producers, Producers and Reporters of the Consumer News team to produce original content for the NBC News Investigative Unit.
Responsibilities include, but will not be limited to:
-Assist in producing news content for broadcast and digital, including research, social media reporting, conducting interviews, field producing, shooting and editing
-Pitch consumer-based story ideas and work on assigned storied developed by the editorial team
-Fill in for production assistants/graphics coordination, where needed
Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
• Must have a Bachelor's degree and at least one year
experience working in production, at the network level, a
news website, newspaper or wire service
• Command of Pacer, Accurint, Nexis, Social Media
Search, and Google Tools
Additional Requirements:
• Must be willing to work in New York, New York
• Willingness to travel and work overtime, and on
weekends with short notice
• Must be ''on call'' 24 hours a day / 7 days a week
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the
United States
Desired Characteristics
• Heavy interest in consumer news
• DV shooting experience
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment as the
researchers consistently work against deadlines and
often, in breaking news situations
• Experience in non-linear editing
• Strong journalistic writing skills, research skills, and
editorial judgment
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments
• Knowledge of NBC News Policies and Guidelines and
Practices
• Demonstrated strong knowledge and interest in news,
current events and pop culture
• Experience using Social Media
• Ability to work with various NBC News departments,
including the Desk, Satellite Operations, Crew Desk,
Graphics, Affiliate Relations and NBC News Channel
