Job Description

Responsibilities
As a Capitol Hill Researcher, you will work as a part of the NBC News team covering Congress, coordinating with the Hill producers and correspondents as well as the DC Desk for daily assignments. One of your primary roles will be logging and verbating press conferences, hearings, floor speeches and gaggles. You will also be asked to participate in stakeouts and other press events on the Hill, as well as to maintain research documents and briefing books.

We're seeking a consummate team player with sharp attention to detail, strong editorial instincts, and a willingness to be nimble in breaking news situations. A keen interest in politics and policy is a must.

Additional Responsibilities Include:
- Monitor hearings, press conferences, stakeouts and the House and Senate floors for news
- Maintain spreadsheets and research documents related to Capitol Hill
- Participate in stakeouts on Capitol Hill
- Assist producers and correspondents with research and logistics
- Utilize a variety of logging platforms, such as Otter and Snapstream
- Fill in for producers, where needed
- Monitor Twitter, competitive broadcasts, cable and digital platforms
- Other responsibilities may change depending on breaking news and scheduling

Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, political science, or

another related field
- Minimum one-year professional network news

experience, either with a program, bureau or assignment
- Ability to work some weekends and holidays if breaking

news or staffing requires
- Must be organized, detail oriented, and able to manage

multiple assignments simultaneously

- Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments
