Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced climate and environmental producer/shooter to join the NBC News Climate Unit. The ideal candidate is a natural storyteller; a news junkie who considers all angles of a story and can generate breakthrough ideas for field and in-studio segments. This is a hands-on job from conception through delivery, so we're looking for a team player who collaborates well with talent, writers, and editors. You will also be expected to accept assignments, from breaking news to feature stories, and act on them quickly.

Responsibilities:
• Produce original climate and environmental stories for daily broadcast
• Pitch and develop enterprise story ideas
• Produce, shoot, and write original stories
• Find and book engaging characters for features
• Multi-task multiple stories while meeting tight deadlines
• Manage productions and locations
• Work with senior producer to ensure timely and accurate reporting
• Work with editors to meet NBC News standards
• Collaborate and engage across all NBC News platforms, including NBC News digital and television brands

Qualifications/Requirements
• At least 8 years experience as a network television producer
• Proven skill set in both the field and the edit room, with strong attention to detail and ability to deliver high production value on deadline
• Must be aware of journalism standards and adhere to the highest journalistic practices
• Must be able to work under pressure, turn stories, and thrive in a deadline-driven environment
• Must be willing to work overtime, nights, holidays, and weekends, often with short notice
• Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
Desired Characteristics

• Thorough understanding of weather, climate, and the environment
• Knowledge of US and global climate policies
• Ability to travel as needed, often with limited notice
• Experience working in a multi-platform environment, providing content tailored to broadcast, cable, and digital properties across the various news brands and portfolios
• Language skills
