Job Description
Responsibilities
The NBC News digital politics team is seeking an ambitious reporter to cover the US Department of Justice, federal law enforcement and the courts, and to break news and produce exclusive reporting at the intersection of politics and the law.

This reporter must have experience building sources within and around the Department of Justice and its law enforcement agencies, and experience breaking news and producing stand-out journalism in a competitive environment with the work to prove it. Candidates should possess a competitive spirit and should hate being beat, with a knack for translating what's happening on their beat to a broad audience.

This job is based in Washington, and will involve collaboration across many teams at NBC News. Women and diverse candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

Qualifications/Requirements
Job requirements
• At least 10 years of professional journalism experience,

including at least five years covering the Justice

Department and legal affairs
• Strong journalistic writing skills, research skills and

editorial judgment
• Deep knowledge of the federal government and its

agencies as well as the inner workings of the criminal

justice system, including the courts
• A demonstrated track record of producing original,

exclusive journalism on a political or legal beat
