Responsibilities

The NBC News Washington Bureau is looking for a highly motivated Capitol Hill producer who will focus on the House of Representatives. In this position, you will work directly with the assignment desk, producers, senior producers, and correspondents to produce, report, write and pitch news content for broadcast and digital. Heavy emphasis on reporting news on Capitol Hill, supporting the Hill correspondents, developing sources, and producing in the field.

Responsibilities:
• Assist with full scope of news gathering and production for all NBC News Platforms, covering the House of Representatives
• Write and produce segments, broadcast and online stories and produce live shots
• Gather visual elements and assist with editing for segment production
• Coordinate multiple crews and correspondents with the Assignment Desk in breaking news situations
• Digital journalism including shooting video, stills, contributing to editing
• Produce and pitch story ideas and content to all platforms
• Work in the field with crews, producers and correspondents covering planned events.
• This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of 3 days per week.

Qualifications
• At least 5 years editorial production experience at a network, cable or digital outlet. Previous Hill experience strongly preferred.
• Must have a bachelor's degree.
• Developed digital journalism skills for laptop editing, shooting, Latakoo, live-u.
• Social media savvy & proficient in finding, attracting, licensing, and tracking user generated content
• Willing to work on the Hill daily and to pivot to other field assignments for the bureau as needed
• Must be willing and able to work flexible hours, under tight deadline pressure, including breaking news; this may include weekends, nights and holidays
• Willing to travel with little notice for breaking news and other assignments
• Must have a valid Driver's License

• Strong news judgment & work ethic
• Knowledge of non-linear editing systems including Avid
• Demonstrated strong knowledge and interest in politics, current events and the legislative process
• Strong interpersonal & communication skills
• Solid working knowledge of newsroom systems & satellite operations is preferred
• Interest in politics, political news and government
