Responsibilities
As an Associate Producer for the NBC News Business and Technology Unit, you will work directly with producers, senior producers and correspondents to help pitch, write and produce business and technology news content for Nightly News, Weekend Nightly News, TODAY, Weekend TODAY, MSNBC, NBC NEWS NOW and NBC News.com.
Responsibilities:
• Respond quickly to breaking news, helping in all production
• Pre-interview and book characters for television and digital pieces
• Research and develop stories
• Make crew requests, edit requests and graphics requests
• Assist in production, including going on shoots, logging tapes, and pulling video elements
• Participate in special projects, pitch enterprise story ideas, and assist senior producers, as needed
• Write short pieces for our digital verticals
• Work as a team player across all NBC News platforms
• This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of 3 days per week.
Qualifications
• At least two years' editorial experience working in production, preferably at the network level
• Minimum 2 years' experience in a newsroom environment
• A Bachelor's degree, preferably in journalism or communications
• Must be willing and able to travel
• Proficient in Outlook and iNews
• Must be willing to work overtime, nights, holidays, and weekends, often with short notice
Additional Job Requirements:
• Must be willing to work in NYC
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
Desired Characteristics:
• Demonstrated strong knowledge and interest in business and technology news
• Strong journalistic writing skills, research skills, and editorial judgment
• DV shooting experience
• Knowledge of non-linear editing systems including Avid
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments
• Knowledge of NBC News Policies and Guidelines and Practices
