Do you have a track record of processing and reporting a variety of political, foreign and domestic news topics with speed and accuracy? Are you passionate about journalism, news analysis and working in fast-moving digital spaces? If your answers are yes, we want to meet you.

We're looking for an experienced Senior Social Media Editor to join the MSNBC social team, based in New York, though the role is currently remote. You'll work with the Deputy Head of Social in Los Angeles to manage MSNBC's presence on social media platforms.

You will activate on social strategies that elevate in-depth analysis, commentary, and informed perspectives from Morning Joe, Rachel Maddow, Ali Velshi, Joy Reid, Steve Kornacki, Nicolle Wallace, and more. You will be able to swiftly break news, while identifying and promoting MSNBC coverage initiatives, including MSNBC Daily. Responsibilities include:
• Drive MSNBC social media coverage, helping to define and share the voices of MSNBC to our highly engaged social audiences
• Run the MSNBC ''hot seat,'' write headlines, edit video, and distribute content across multiple platforms
• Maintain focus and accuracy during breaking news and high-pressure news situations; keeping as many platforms as active as possible while news happens
• Work with the team to develop creative, original social media projects and dynamic site experiences, focused on audience growth, engagement, and public service journalism
• Support MSNBC's digital reporting catalog, which includes MSNBC Daily, Maddow Blog, Into America podcasts, and more.
• Coordinate with editors on show teams, site programming, and marketing
• This role covers the morning shift

Qualifications/Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree preferred
• 2+ years editing in a newsroom environment preferred,

including experience with breaking news, video editing,
online marketing, and dedicated social publishing

experience; must be a skilled text AND video editor with
outstanding communication skills and the ability to

prioritize while multitasking
• Comfort being an independent self-starter, but also part
of a multi-location, multi-time zone team
• Demonstrate experience with managing breaking news,

video editing, and packaging/publishing on social media

accounts for a news outlet(s)
• Desire to work in a creative, demanding, competitive but

highly rewarding news environment

Desired Characteristics
• Experience analyzing social and site analytics, and

generating reports
• Experience with live television production
• Experience as a site editor or similar digital media

experience
• Active awareness of MSNBC personalities and brands
