We are hiring a Technical Director to join our Montreal Optimization team. You'll be able to contribute directly to the success and timely delivery of some of the most technically challenging and widely recognized movies in production.
Our Optimization team is responsible for supporting our asset and lighting team, to improve the efficiency and quality of our rendering. Responsibilities include troubleshooting render issues by working closely with artists, developers and production to pro-actively identify and solve challenging problems in modern visual effects, taking ownership of issues through to resolution.

To work hand-in-hand with our artists and engineers, providing support for our tools and technologies used to create stunning imagery for our films. We are looking for people who are able to take the initiative and able to communicate complex problems in a simple manner to stakeholders and end users.

Primary Responsibilities
• Works with production to improve efficiency and quality of rendering.
• Identify rendering challenges. Suggesting solutions and working on implementation, interfacing with other teams to address.
• Troubleshoot render scenes, develop new techniques and document best practice for rendering efficiency.

Qualifications

Skills and Experience
• Education and/or experience in Film, Animation, Games or a closely related field.
• Solid understanding of computer graphics is required.
• Experience with RenderMan or similar path-traced renderers such as Arnold or V-Ray.
• Experience with tools such as Katana, Maya, Houdini and/or Nuke is an asset.
• Previous experience as Pipeline, Render or Assistant TD is an asset.
• Skills with Python, OSL or similar scripting languages are considered an asset.
