Job overview
Under the supervision of the CG Supervisor and the Line Producer, the Anim Fix/Tech Supervisor works closely with the Layout, Animation and FX Supervisors to deliver quality Maya scenes that meet the creative objectives set by the Director, Supervisors and Designers, technical objectives related to the proper transmission of approved scenes and elements to downstream departments, as well as scheduling objectives and production quotas within the allocated budget.

He participates in the definition of the hiring needs and in the candidate selection process. In collaboration with the potential lead(s), he ensures the training, development and well-being of his team. As a real driving force and a leader, he inspires and motivates his artists to achieve their objectives and deliver high quality work in a collaborative team spirit.

He plays a central role in ensuring that Mikros Animation continues to create first-class animation films.

Responsibilities

MANAGEMENT
• Develop, manage and maintain the schedule and production quotas in agreement with the production coordinating team
• Assign, oversee and check the team's work
• Balance available resources according to projects expectations and needs
• Keep the CG Supervisor and Production informed of any issues related to staffing, resources and deadlines
• Inform the team of any relevant changes and updates related to the project
• Remain available to answer questions from the team
• Lead team meetings
• Train and guide the team throughout the project
• Assess and review artists performance
• Support and facilitate the integration of new employees

TECHNICAL
• Establish processes that allow the team to quickly correct shots
• Resolve animation errors, correct animations while respecting character design and performance
• Resolve shot problems while ensuring continuity
• Review and approve shots
• Understand how rigs are built in order to adapt them to specific cases

Qualifications
• Proven experience in a similar role
• College diploma or equivalent in 2D or 3D computer graphics, graphics or visual arts, or similar degree, or similar experience
• Knowledge of Rigging, Maya
• Animation skills for animating natural-looking hair/skirts
• Modeling skills for smoothing mesh topology/make sure texture is not stretched
• Ability to troubleshoot major issues from different departments

Assets:
• Coding knowledge / Understand and write a function for fixing multiple shots
• Comfortable working in a Linux/Unix and/or Windows environment
• Knowledge of an asset manager such as Shotgrid
• Fluency in English and French
