The Hair Supervisor is responsible for grooming on all production assets.

Under the supervision of the Line Producer and CG Supervisor, he/she will work closely with the Modeling, Rigging, CFX and Surfacing Supervisor in order to deliver high quality assets that meet all Design creative requirements, technical objectives from other departments,as well as the timeframe defined by production.

He/she will discuss production quotas within budgets with the production team and the CG Supervisor in order to establish the recruitment needs of the Hair team. He/she will get involved in the recruitment plan to assess and select candidates.

He/she will supervise a team of artists, training and supporting them to ensure the highest quality of work, as well as the development and well-being of talents.

Responsibilities
• Be involved in the development of tools used to create Hair effects;
• Develop, manage and maintain the schedule and production quotas in agreement with the production coordinator;
• Assign, oversee and check the team's work;
• Manage and balance available resources according to project expectations and requests;
• Keep Production and the CG Supervisor informed of any issues related to staffing, resources and deadlines;
• Organize and facilitate team meetings;
• Inform the team of any changes and updates related to the project;
• Train and supervise the team throughout the project;
• Assess and review artists performance;
• Recruit new artists;
• Attend and participate in supervisors' meetings;
• Keep up to date with new hair technologies and techniques;
• Perform other duties assigned by management;
• Fluent English / French
• Asset: ability to create and simulate Hair effects on 3D animated characters and animals, according to the art direction

Qualifications
• College diploma in 3D graphic arts/3D animation;
• Minimum 5 years of work experience as Hair Artist using Yeti in feature animation, episodic animation or visual effects;
• Minimum 2 years of experience as Hair lead/sup
• Skills in animation, rigging and/or surfacing is an asset
• Extensive knowledge of Maya;
• Experience with Python is a plus;
• Extensive knowledge of Maya Hair tools;
• Comfortable with Linux/Unix environment;
• Knowledge of an asset manager such as Shotgun is a plus;
• Ability to multitask and prioritize.
• Knowledge in Hair Surfacing is an asset
• Fluent French / English
