Job Description
We are currently seeking an experienced US/North America Production Health & Safety Executive to join the existing Production Health & Safety Team overseeing the injury and illness prevention programs of our global production operations.
The successful candidate will collaborate on the strategic operational planning for scaling our safety oversight to productions around the globe, identify and/or develop tools and processes to drive efficiencies, socialize safe practices, operationalize H&S specialists recruiting for productions, and work with internal cross-functional teams to support the needs of the studio and the productions. They must have experience in global physical production health and safety management including facilities, practical locations, special effects and stunt planning, risk assessment development and vetting, and emergency response planning and management.
The day-to-day functions will include introducing and/or educating our production partners to our Health & Safety resources, protocols, standards, and procedures. Additional accountabilities include; reviewing scripts and risk assessments for H&S concerns, attending safety planning and production meetings, meeting with production department heads to identify areas of concern and/or answer questions, respond to our H&S incident hotline, oversee stage facility production activities, and overall ownership of our automated internal safety system platform.
Intermittent economy travel, both domestic and international, will be required.
Reports to the Global Head of Health and Safety and is responsible day to day oversight and process implementation for their assigned region(s): (EMEA, APAC, NA, LATAM, etc.)
Responsibilities:
• Build and maintain close collaboration with internal and external production partners.
• Provide service and support to Production Executives and Operations team with regard to Safety and Production Safety.
• Provide Production Safety guidance expertise to all formats and engagement types within the Studios scope of operations.
• Work close with Global Head of Health and Safety to streamline existing and create new processes, documentation and polices to meet the global needs of the Studio.
• Review Production Safety Programs for filming with production management as well as Heads of Departments, including reviewing responsibilities, Code of Safe Practices and Safety Bulletins and guidelines.
• Review and confirm essential safety communications with Production teams, for example, Call Sheets, Tool Box Talks, Risk Assessments, etc.
• Review: scripts, location inspection reports, proposed hazardous activity, and risk assessments.
• Develop and prepare custom Safety Bulletins and Safety Guidance documents as the need arises.
• Review existing Production Safety Program/Protocols periodically to ensure it is up to date and accurate.
• Conduct periodic location visits as needed (or requested).
• Provide safety guidance on addressing environmental issues encountered on location.
• Participate in project kick off meetings to provide an overview of Amazon Studio's safety policies and requirements and lead department specific meetings on a project-to-project basis.
• Lead H&S process review and incident investigations as needed.
About the team
The Production Health & Safety team are key members of the Production Operations team. Production Operations provide support and guidance to our content creators worldwide. Our goal is to dismantle any roadblocks faced by our producers while ensuring they are all working safely and responsibly.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 6+ years of experience collaborating with diverse cross-functional teams, including senior internal partners, project executives, legal, labor, risk management and workplace executives.
- 6+ years of experience as a Production Health and Safety professional in the entertainment industry.
- 5+ years of experience in the entertainment industry including but not limited to: physical production, Features, Television, unscripted, facilities management and vendors.
- Experience with managing multiple projects and workflows simultaneously with a proven track record of project management and meeting deadlines.
- Experience with creating and documenting H&S policies and procedures.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Extensive experience with Physical Production, Features, Television, and Unscripted.
- Excellent working knowledge of all physical production roles/jobs on and off production. This includes: terminology, organizational structure, equipment, construction methods, stunt, and special effects processes.
- Experience in building health and safety processes, policies and procedures on a corporate and/or global scale.
- Degree and/or professional certification/s (ASP, CSP, CIH) in Occupational Health & Safety.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $88,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
