POSITION OVERVIEW
As a Client Software Engineer on The Sims, you will work on the engine systems and client services within the Sims 4. The work will range from rapid prototyping to production development and will cover different aspects of the engine and game tech. Most of the work will be done in C++.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Extend existing proprietary engine systems to allow development of new client features in the field of graphics, animation and path planning.
• Design new client features and extend the asset pipeline in collaboration with gameplay engineers, designers and artists.
• Write cross-platform code with performance and memory usage in mind.
• Write technical design documentation detailing software requirements, usage guidelines and implementation route.
Experience REQUIRED
Please note that you do not need to qualify for all qualifications to be considered. We encourage you to apply if you can meet most of the requirements and are comfortable opening a dialog to be considered.
• Experience with legacy systems by reading and debugging the code.
• 5+ years experience in a hands-on development role.
• Working knowledge of modern C++.
• Experience working with engine subsystems (rendering, resource/asset management systems, animation, navigation, and loading/streaming) either as a power user or contributor.
• Experience with geometry, linear algebra, calculus, and physics as they pertain to transformations and motions in 3D space.
• Windows desktop development experience required.
• Code optimization skills.
PLUSES
• Experience with graphics libraries (DirectX/OpenGL/Metal).
• Mac development experience.
• Xbox One/PS4 development experience.
• Knowledge of Python, C#, or familiarity with WPF.
• Demonstrate experience working in large data-driven games or applications.
• Experience developing large-scale live products.
• Experience using static and performance analysis tools, automated testing, unit testing, and configuration management processes.
• Familiarity with The Sims games on PC/Mac/consoles.
