Position at Industrial Light & Magic

The Junior Creature TD Rigger’s primary responsibility is rigging and enveloping background and crowd characters, vehicles and props in Maya. They are able to wrangle rigging and creature pipeline issues proficiently under the direction and guidance of their supervisors.

Primary Responsibilities
• Implements animation control rigging systems for simple characters and props using Maya
• Works with the Lead and Supervisor to ensure that all rigs meet the show’s requirements.
• Assists with the characters, vehicles and props rigging through the pipeline.
• Additional responsibilities may include facial target modeling and other organic and non-organic modeling tasks.
• Troubleshoot and wrangle character-rigging issues for artists within various disciplines.

Required Skills / Competencies
• At least 1 year of relevant professional VFX experience and a college level diploma in computer science, computer graphics or related field; OR at least 3 years of relevant professional VFX experience in lieu of education.
• Strong communications skills are a must.
• Expertise with Maya software required.
• Understanding of Kinematics and IK systems in Maya a must.
• Experience with MEL or Python required.
• A reel demonstrating artistic ability in rigging and scripting required.

Preferred Skills / Competencies
• Experience in animation, games or visual effects.
• Proficiency with Linux
• Experience refining templates and rig kits
