Position at Industrial Light & Magic

We are looking for junior level animators to join Sydney's Jedi Academy in January 2022. The successful candidates will reflect the innovative spirit, creative talent, collaborative mindset and passion for great filmmaking that define ILM.

ILM's animation department covers a wide range of animation work including character, creature and vfx animation. The artists use both proprietary ILM tools and mainstream software to achieve this.

What you'll learn
• Character performance and creature animation for CG feature film and VFX projects
• Working with vocal takes and dialogue scenes
• Preparing and recording video reference
• Facial animation using modern facial rigs
• Cameras, staging and composition
• Performing in a CG feature and VFX environment
• ILM proprietary tools and pipeline

What we're looking for
• VFX graduates or junior level artists with a genuine passion for animation
• A basic understanding of animation methods and approaches
• Great collaborators, curious learners with a blend of creative and storytelling skills
• Reel demonstrating evidence of your work in animation, and a general understanding of CG. You may have further education in VFX, digital media or animation, but it is not a prerequisite

Jedi Academy animation program details

The Jedi Academy animation program will start in January 2022. We are offering 12 month opportunities consisting of an intensive and full-time initial training period (6-12 weeks depending on discipline and applicant level) followed by on the job development. This is a paid position.

Applicants must reside in NSW and provide proof of long-term eligibility to work in Australia. We are not able to provide assistance for relocation, housing, transportation, or work authorisation for the Jedi Academy.
