                    This role is considered Hybrid, which means the employee will work 2-3 days onsite at a Company designated location and occasionally from home.
We are looking for Environment Artists who reflect the innovative spirit, creative talent, production excellence, team-oriented mentality and passion for great filmmaking that define ILM!
As an Environment Artist, you will build on related concept art and photographic references to bring the concept to life.
Environment Artists work with other artists from multiple departments to model, set dress, texture and look-develop published environments for use across the pipeline. You will partner with creative and technical departments to build spectacular, photoreal environments for both film and episodic projects, and may also work on your own shots.
Successful candidates demonstrate great skills in digital arts, the ability to work in a procedural workflow, as well as a developed eye for composition and photographic details.

What You'll Do
 Work on 3D environment shots, both photo realistic and stylized
 Perform layout and set dressing of environments using 3D assets
 Create individual assets including modelling, texturing, look dev, and publishing
 Source suitable reference materials for required assets
 Collaborate with different department specialists to ensure assets are working for the needs of the environment
 Are responsible for presenting lit and shaded environments for feedback
 Participate in team reviews of the work under development
 Work under the direction of the lead and supervisor of the show
 Encourage partnership by sharing knowledge
 Look for solutions that will give the fastest result with the best quality to achieve a desired look
 Show regular progress to the lead and supervisor
 Produce work within the production schedule
 Communicate respectfully and clearly with the rest of the team
What We're Looking For:
 3+ years of relevant professional VFX experience and at least a college level diploma or higher in computer graphics, fine arts, design, or photography, or related field; OR 5+ years of relevant professional VFX experience in lieu of education
 Proficient in multiple CG techniques, including modelling, texturing, look-development and lighting
 Good knowledge of procedural set dressing and scattering systems, including Layout
 Good knowledge of 3D organic and procedural asset creation (like vegetation or terrain)
 Strong understanding of visual language - texture, colour, dimension, scale, perspective, lighting, shade, composition depth of field, proportion, etc.
 Knowledge of the USD workflow
 Good knowledge of working with photogrammetry
 Strong lighting skills
 Exhibits teamwork and interdisciplinary thinking
 Strong communication
 Good knowledge of the following software: Photoshop, Houdini, Solaris, and Katana with Renderman or similar renderer
 Additional environment tools like Gaea, Speedtree, Zbrush, Substance Painter
 Shown ability to learn new software quickly
 Being curious of new tools and technologies to improve efficiency
 Eagerness for improvement, of attention to details and photo realism of your work
 Desire to grow with the company
 Demo reel and shot breakdown (required)
 Nice to have: Experience with scripting/automation

The hiring range for this position in Vancouver is C$84,100 to C$107,700 per year based on a 40-hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.  A full range of medical, financial, and/or other variable pay or benefits, may be offered dependent on the level and position offered.
