Job Title: Coordinator, Community Relations

Department: Community Relations (CR)

Reports to: Associate Director, Community Relations

Departmental Goal: The Los Angeles Lakers community relations team serves the greater Los Angeles area through a variety of programs and initiatives, partnering with a range of community partners to maximize reach and impact.

Position Summary: The Community Relations Coordinator is responsible for supporting, organizing and facilitating a wide-range of community events and activities for the Los Angeles Lakers and South Bay Lakers. This role engages community partners and community groups on a regular basis for programming, special events and game-related activities, including community programs integrated with corporate sponsors.

Essential Functions (Duties & Responsibilities**):
• Support planning and execution for local community events including reaching out to partners, arranging logistics, creating event flows, tracking tasks and tracking expenses
• Work cross functionally to leverage community programs with other departments including marketing, communications, basketball operations and corporate partnerships
• Implement in-game theme nights for community programs (Hoops for Troops, Girl Dad)
• Implement in-game community activations including High-Five Kids and Half-Minute to Win It
• Ensure all corporate obligations are fulfilled across community programs and events, working with the sponsorship team to understand and monitor requirements
• Ideate and develop new community programs that serve the organization's needs
• Facilitate website and social updates for community activities
• Coordinate community efforts with a focus on El Segundo and the South Bay for South Bay Lakers
• Coordinate in-kind donation inventory and storage and giveaway inventory and storage
**Responsibilities subject to change based on organizational needs and direction from management.

Education (Required/ Preferred): Bachelor's degree (required); (A degree in Non-profit management, Public Relations, Communications, Public Policy, Marketing, Sports Management, or other closely related field preferred.)

Previous experience:
• A minimum of two years of work experience
• Work experience with youth sports or community programs preferred
• Partnerships experience preferred
• A background in volunteer work preferred

Knowledge, skills, abilities:
• A passion for serving the Los Angeles community
• Broad knowledge of local community programs and community engagement activities
• Knowledge of the Los Angeles community landscape including awareness of key non profits
• Highly organized and detail oriented
• Self-starter with a can-do attitude, willing
• Working knowledge of basketball
• Ability to interact and be a role model for youth
• Proven ability to make pitches to partner organizations regarding youth program benefits
• Ability to work with kids
• The ultimate team player who is willing to pitch in wherever needed to execute high-quality events for the Los Angeles community

Physical Demands: Ability to lift min 25 lbs. and the ability to withstand multi-hour events with lots of movement and coordination

Location: El Segundo (offices M-F), downtown Los Angeles (Crypto.com Arean for Lakers home games), pre-season games, and other weekly off-site (including basketball clinics, Team Up events, etc.)

Travel: Up to 20% of the time

The pay range for this role is $20.00 to $22.00/hour. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience and certifications
