Job Description
Summary of Position

The Sr. Data Engineer is responsible for architecting, developing and managing the Lionsgate Enterprise data warehouse, and responsible for developing extractions, transformations and data loads from external and internal data sources. Furthermore, the Sr. Data Engineer must be an expert at architecting and migrating normalized, structured and semi–structured data into star, snowflake and other de-normalized data models. This means the data engineer needs to be able to read, analyze and digest what a business wants to accomplish with its data and define/design the best possible data architecture/enterprise solution around those goals and future needs. Additionally, this position will be expected to deliver best-of-breed enterprise data architectures that consolidate, align and standardize the Lionsgate/STARZ enterprise data warehouse.

Responsibilities
• Prioritize development & enhancement requests to align with corporate goals and business needs

• Manage software upgrades, capacity planning and system performance tuning

• Collaborate with various Lionsgate IT teams and business units to define and architect data solution (ETLs, workflow, automation and error-handling)

• Troubleshoot and solve complex technical and data problems

• Manage automation of file processing as well as all ETL processes within a job workflow

• Ensure data quality throughout data governance and master data management

• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements such as PCI, HIPPA, and SOX

• Adapting code to accommodate changes in source data and new business requirements

• Develop logic with common coding languages like SQL, Java, Python, XML, C#, VB

• Develop Microsoft SSIS packages, including alerts data validation checks

• Develop ETL solution for incoming sFTP, CSV, Excel, XML and JSON data feeds

• Deploy ETL job workflow with reliable error/exception handling and rollback framework

• Develop star and snowflake DW dimensional models for landing incoming data

• Develop ETL code with proper metadata definitions, models, schedules, and maintenance

• Perform unit testing, system integration testing and assist with user acceptance testing

• Document the ETL detailed design and test results as part of development cycle

• Use different data warehouse architecture techniques like ODS, DM, ROLAP and MOLAP

Qualifications & Skills
• Possess strong ability in visualizing future needs (the big picture) of database design

• Possess strong skills in devising technical enterprise solution and standards

• Possess strong skills in understanding, manipulating, and analyzing data

• Expert level experience with ETL development with Microsoft SSIS and SQL Server

• Strong background loading data from CSV, Excel, XML and JSON into DW

• Expert with MS SQL stored procedures, functions, indexing & SQL Server in-memory features

• Flexible and able to persevere in a fast-paced work environment, and willing to seek new ways to look at database design/architecture in anticipation for future needs

• Self-starter with strong analytical and problem solving skills

• Ability to manage numerous project simultaneously

• Strong experience with API development

• Ability to translate ideas and business requirements into fully functioning ETL workflows

• Bachelor's degree in computer science and 10+ years of experience developing ETLs

• Masters in CS, stats or math a plus!

• Working knowledge of Hadoop (MapReduced), Apache SPARK, and columnar MPP

• Working knowledge of big data nosql, un-structured and semi-structured data

• SAP experience preferred – CRM, IPM, BW experience ideal

• DMP tagging of web and social media properties for marketing

• Strong experience with Java, a plus

• Experience working with Matillion ETL, a plus

• Experience with AWS technologies, a plusKnowledge of Home Entertainment, DMP Marketing and Sales and Planning, a plus
