Job Description

Summary of Position

Accomplished, highly-skilled and strategically-focused attorney with substantial and on point experience drafting and negotiating content acquisition agreements for linear and SVOD branded service distribution across multiple distribution platforms internationally.

Responsibilities
• Draft and negotiate a large volume of complex content acquisition agreements for original series and third party content for use on the STARZPLAY services across all distribution platforms internationally

• Work closely with business teams to draft and negotiate content acquisition agreements with multiple competing deadlines

• Articulate and advise business team of issues and risks

• Draft, negotiate, maintain and manage intercompany licenses for content and programming

• Coordinate with and support the Senior Executive Team and strategic corporate initiatives, including providing and maintaining relevant comparatives across content licensing deals

Qualifications & Skills
• Juris Doctor degree

• Admitted to the State Bar of California

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a major, reputable law firm focused on IP/transactional practice areas

• Minimum of 3 years' experience providing content-related legal counsel for television networks, studios and/or media distribution companies in the United States

• Superior drafting skills, including the ability to articulate complicated concepts clearly

• Superior written and verbal communication skills

• Superior knowledge of content licensing concepts, including rights distinctions and holdbacks

• Working knowledge of international content owners, licensors, and commissioning broadcasters

• Working knowledge of various distribution architectures, including IP-delivery platforms

• Working knowledge of copyright laws

• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and work calmly under pressure against multiple competing deadlines and a demanding client base

• Highly motivated, extremely detail-oriented, organized and able to work independently
