MMJ / Reporter - KYOU
About KYOU:
KYOU is the FOX and NBC affiliate in Southeastern Iowa and Northeastern Missouri. The station produces 6pm and 10pm newscasts on our KYOU NBC channel along with a 9pm newscast for KYOU FOX.
Each of our news staff members perform various job functions, including MMJ, Anchor, Producer, and Digital.
Job Summary/Description:
KYOU is looking to bring on board a MMJ/Reporter who can bring strong story ideas each day. They are responsible for setting up daily stories they will shoot, edit and write. They could also be asked to anchor the KYOU newscast/s. This is a station where you will receive hands-on experience, improve your work and become an important part of the station and community.
Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Shoot, write and edit daily news stories for KYOU's weeknight newscasts.
- Develop sources and contacts in order to come up with unique story ideas.
- Must be a self-starter who is enamored with the news and wants to succeed.
- Needs to be able to assist in all areas of news production – MMJ, Producer, Digital, Anchor.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- A journalism/Broadcasting/Communication degree from a four-year college.
- A reel of your work in college, which should include examples of your anchoring, stories you wrote, shot and edited, and stand-ups.
- General knowledge of news cameras, news production systems, non-linear editing systems, and using social media is very helpful. (KYOU uses JVC cameras, ENPS and Edius)
