Job Description
KXAN/KXAN.com (Austin, TX) is looking for an experienced journalist with a print/digital background in investigative or hard news enterprise reporting. Collaborate with an expanding newsroom of experienced journalists, as well as a duPont and IRE award-winning investigative team. KXAN/KXAN.com is part of a top-rated multiplatform newsroom, focused on local in-depth and investigative journalism.
This is not an entry level position. The ideal candidate has experience reporting in a newspaper or digital newsroom and is proficient in data analysis and other computer-assisted reporting skills. This person will work to enterprise and break local stories regularly, as well as work on longer term special projects. Must have experience producing multimedia stories and capable of generating photos, videos and infographics. Applicants should provide a portfolio of such examples. Additional responsibilities may include copyediting and curating of online content.
Preferred experience includes journalism degree and 3+ years' reporting for a print or online newsroom, as well as expertise with CMS workflow, digital storytelling tools and the FOIA process. Must have a track record of effective collaboration with colleagues and cultivating sources to break news and generate story ideas.
