Executive Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) KVAL-TV

KVAL-TV in Eugene, Oregon is looking for a take-charge Executive MMJ/ Reporter to help us continue to grow and empower our audiences! We are seeking a motivated, energetic, creative, and aggressive reporter who can think and perform outside the box. They will research, report, shoot, write, and edit daily content for various platforms in a manner that is clear and engaging to news consumers. They will be expected to produce daily content on a variety of platforms including the internet, social networking sites and mobile phones, in addition to television.

The ideal candidate should be able to enterprise and develop story ideas, gather information for newscasts, have solid writing skills, a great work ethic, be flexible with the changing needs of the station, be willing to train and assist others, as well as develop and maintain contacts to generate interesting and relatable stories. The best person for this job will have excellent live shot skills and thrives on breaking stories as well as manage digital opportunities in the course of daily storytelling.

Skills and Experience:
• Create, shoot, write and edit meaningful stories for station's newscast that can be used across multiple platforms
• Review material for fairness, accuracy, and balance
• Work closely with all members of the news team, which would include the Assignment Manager, fellow MMJ's, Photographers, Producers, Editors, Anchors, News Directors, etc.
• Sharp news judgment
• Excellent technical skills
• The ability to work well independently with little to no direction
• Must be a strong time manager and resourceful in finding different ways to tell a story
• Must be able to work well under pressure to meet strict deadlines
• Must be able to ask tough questions in a respectful manner

Requirements and Qualifications:
• A minimum of 5 years reporting experience is required
• Experience with live shots is required
• Experience with Live-U is a plus
• You must have and maintain a valid driver's license and good driving record.
