Job Summary/Description:

Alaska's News Source is looking for an experienced and highly organized Assignment Manager to manage daily newsgathering assignments and crew/field logistics as well as future coverage planning. The ideal candidate has strong news judgment and can juggle multiple tasks simultaneously. The Assignment Manager must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment with a sense of urgency and the ability to make and communicate clear, confident decisions. This critical leadership position is scheduled Monday-Friday 9a-6p.

Duties/Responsibilities include, (but are not limited to):
* Oversee newsgathering (this includes developing story ideas, confirming information, and curating reliable news sources)
* Plan and execute daily news coverage across multiple platforms, including advance planning
* Manage newsroom resources and logistics
* Create and publish content to digital and social media platforms
* Answer calls from the public, scan social media
* Effectively communicate with the news team and News Management

Qualifications/Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field is preferred, equivalent experience considered
* Experience as a producer, photographer, or reporter/MMJ preferred
* Sound news judgment
* Understanding of and commitment to news ethics
* Strong communication skills
* Excellent time management skills
* Understanding of social media platforms
* Basic and investigative newsgathering skills
* Understanding of photo/video editing experience is a plus
