About KTIV:

KTIV, Siouxland's News Channel, is the award winning, dominate NBC affiliate located in Sioux City, Iowa and serves viewers in NW Iowa, NE Nebraska, and SE South Dakota. KTIV News 4 is a breaking news and weather station covering local, original stories in the tri-state area.

Job Summary/Description:

KTIV-TV, Siouxland's News Channel, is looking for a News Director who will lead, mentor, and develop the next generation of broadcast journalists. We are looking for a dynamic news professional who excels with high expectations, passion, and dedication. The News Director will lead and manage news coverage for KTIV and our digital and social platforms. You will prepare young journalists to develop their skills.
Our next news director will establish and maintain our market leading standards while working closely with other department managers to achieve overall performance goals. It's important to have a passion for mentoring young journalists. As news director, you'll hire, coach, and supervise news personnel, all while pushing them to grow their skills. Your actions should inspire the team! You'll also prepare and carry out newsroom budgets and capital requests.

The News Director must have a strong, working knowledge of community issues and needs and understand sound journalistic principles. Work with Digital Content Manager initiating and managing content delivery. Monitor all newscasts and digital news coverage to ensure staff is meeting standards

Qualifications/Requirements:
- Creativity and passion for news, leadership in teaching and coaching team members
- Strong organizational skills and effective communication
- Ability to multi-task in high stress situations
- At least 3 years of newsroom experience and a bachelor's degree in Journalism preferred
- Knowledge and understanding in using various digital and social platforms
