KSHB, the NBC affiliate in Kansas City, MO, owned by The E.W. Scripps Company, is looking for a creative and driven Weekend Sports Anchor/MMJ.

The Weekend Sports Anchor/MMJ is responsible for researching, writing, capturing visual content, and editing sports stories for multiple platforms. You would be joining a strong team of talented journalists in one of the nation's best cities for professional, college, and prep sports. This position is for an experienced sports journalist who aims to excel in local storytelling. Along with anchoring regular weekend sportscasts, you'll be involved in special programming during football season and beyond. Kansas City is one of the fastest-growing cities in the country, known for bar-b-que, a thriving arts scene, and a strong economy. Come join a team that's making a difference.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
• Receive assignments or evaluate sports leads and news tips to develop story ideas.
• Gather and verify factual information regarding stories through interview, observation, and research.
• Organize material and write stories according to prescribed editorial style and format standards.
• Shoot video and still photos to illustrate stories.
• Edit, or assist in editing, videos for all multimedia platforms.
• Appear on television program(s) in live and pre-taped situations.
• Create interesting, engaging, and impactful sports content.
• Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
• High school diploma or equivalent work experience
• Generally, 3+ years experience in related field preferred

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
• Knowledge and demonstration of sports industry
• Knowledge and demonstration of editorial judgment, journalistic ethics and libel and slander laws
• Computer literacy required, including newsroom computer systems, videography, and non-linear editing experience preferred
• Knowledge of broadcast quality camera equipment
• Knowledge of editing systems
• Strong broadcast and AP-style writing skills
• Proficient at posting content to various websites and multimedia
• Possess and apply comprehensive knowledge of particular field of specialization to the completion of complex assignments; advanced knowledge of organization's technologies and practices
• Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company required insurance limits
