Job Description
KSBW 8 (NBC) / Central Coast ABC / Estrella TV Costa Central, part of Hearst Television, is searching for a creative and experienced news leader. The ideal candidate will have excellent news judgment, strong management skills and an aggressive approach to breaking news coverage--on the air and online. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, skilled communicator who leads our team in the execution of market-leading breaking news, weather coverage and community service on all platforms daily. Job Responsibilities:
• Editorial leadership of impactful content across all television, digital and social platforms
• Superior communication skills to help develop and implement an evolving strategic plan
• Recruit, retain and develop employees across all facets of the newsroom
• Strategic planning in collaboration with the News Director and station leadership on major event coverage, promotable stories, and corporate initiatives
• Newsroom scheduling
• Review and evaluation of our daily product, coach and grow both on and off-air talent
• Champion breaking news and severe weather coverage

Experience Requirements:
• 2 years of newsroom supervisory and/or management experience
• Strong producing/story background preferred
• Experience mentoring/coaching journalists and newsroom talent

Qualifications Requirements:
• Expert knowledge of ENPS or similar software preferred
• Individual must have a passion for news and communication skills to manage a large staff and multiple hours of daily newscasts
• Strong communication and people skills
• Proven record of leadership and innovation, especially in digital
• Knowledge of digital and multiplatform journalism
• Organizational, planning and time-management skills with a detail-oriented mindset
• Ability to multitask and follow up with newsroom staff on a consistent basis
• Critical thinking, problem-solving and sound decision-making skills
• Interpretation of research data and proof of ratings growth strategies
• Creativity is a must
• Bilingual a Plus

Education:
• Bachelor's Degree or related military training in Broadcast Communications, Journalism, or related field.
• Related experience and/or training considered as well as a combination of education and experience.
• Hearst Television is a proud supporter of military veterans. Related military training and experience will be considered.

The estimated base salary range for this role is between $83,000 and $103,000. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as transferable skills, work experience, business needs, market demands and conditions, including geographic location where the work will be performed, and other factors permitted by law. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
