Producer

Do you have what it takes to bring breaking news to the people of Great Falls? As a News Producer at KRTV, you'll shape the stories that inform and impact our community. You'll craft compelling newscasts that connect with viewers across central Montana, working with our talented team to deliver content that matters. Join us in our mission to serve the Electric City with journalistic excellence.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
• Develop and organize engaging newscasts and local programs
• Write and showcase powerful stories that resonate with our audience
• Collaborate with reporters, anchors, news managers and assignment editors to determine content needs
• Enhance content with graphics, video, research and station branding
• Execute time-sensitive decisions in a fast-paced environment
• Oversee live broadcasts and make up-to-the-minute editorial decisions
• Perform desktop editing to polish content
• Post content to station's websites
• Work flexible hours including holidays, weekends and evenings
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
• BS/BA in journalism, communications or related discipline preferred or equivalent years of experience
• 2+ years of experience in news production or related field preferred
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
• Avid local news consumer knowledge of daily news, events, trends and happenings
• Strong vision and ability to advance stories
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills
• Passion for writing with attention to detail in grammar, spelling and word choice
• Highly organized approach to managing multiple priorities
• Adaptability in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Strong self-motivation
• Working knowledge of journalistic ethics and libel laws
• Strong editorial judgment
• Ability to use web analytics effectively
• Proficiency with newsroom computer systems and MS Office
