Local Sales Manager, Sports - KNXV/KNXV

KNXV/KASW, The E.W. Scripps Company Ion Media/ABC station in Phoenix, Arizona is looking for a Local Sales Manager (LSM) to join our team to help support our sports initiative as the official broadcast partner of the Arizona Coyotes! The LSM leads, coaches, mentors and collaborate with a local sales team to help local businesses realize growth opportunity by reaching customers through compelling multi-platform advertising solutions involving Scripps Sports assets. This full array of advertising solutions may include platforms like Over The Top (OTT) video, social media strategies, digital display and e-mail targeting, as well as broadcast television and including sports sponsorships.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
• Collaborate with director, sales (DOS) and other sales managers and departments to accomplish the objectives of the station with regard to Scripps Sports team sales and sponsorships.
• Help in negotiating ratings, rates and budgets for sports with local station leadership.
• Develop new business for station utilizing and maximizing all station platforms including but not limited to broadcast, digital, mobile, and sponsorships.
• Assist AE's on key client sales calls for sports sponsorships.
• Develop working knowledge of local sports landscapes and leagues.
• Collaborate with the Director of Sales and Sales Managers to train, develop and motivate the local sales team so that revenue goals are achieved for sports budgets.
• Maintain positive working relationships with outside vendors.
• Interface with traffic systems and personnel to ensure efficient management of airtime inventory.
• Know the strengths and weaknesses of the competing stations, other advertising mediums and position the station accordingly.
• Effectively forecast sports sales revenue and manage department expenses so that financial goals are achieved.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, which may include entertaining prospective and existing clients, attending sporting events or other associated functions.
• Collaborate with Scripps sr director sports revenue to support the local station.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
• BS/BA in related discipline preferred or equivalent years of experience
• Generally, 8+ years of experience in related field preferred
• Experience in Sports Business Sales on League, Team, or Media side with a proven track record exceeding revenue goals

• Working knowledge of Google Office (Sheets, Docs, Slides) and virtual conferencing platforms
• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company required insurance limits.
